Sony Ericsson has just announced two UIQ 3.x based smartphones: the G700 and the G900. Both offer very similar functionality, with the main differences being
camera resolution (5 Megapixel on the G900 and 3.2 MPix on the G700) and G900's Wi-Fi connectivity (G700 is WiFi-less). The G900 also includes additional
imaging software and has different colour and keyboard layout. Both devices are the smallest UIQ-based phones ever made by Sony Ericsson: they measure
106x49x13 mm and weigh 99 g. Both are equipped with the usual QVGA (262,144 colour TFT, 2.4") touch sensitive screens and, what's new and warmly welcome, they
include a d-pad for navigation. They also include an enhanced and improved 'home/standby screen', supporting customizable modules and providing quick access to
frequently used functions without forcing the user to go any deeper through the screens and menus. Both devices support UMTS 2100 and tri-band GSM/GPRS
900/1800/1900. Expected availability: Q2 2008. Check full press release, product information and photos @
